I "accidentally" found this book while shopping for other reading material. I truly believe that life puts special moments in our paths to help remind us of how we should live and love. The world we live in becomes more selfish each day, but i don't believe it's hopeless. This book is a reminder of that. I am so glad to have read it and I can't wait to pass it on to the people around me. Maybe one day it will "be the one to tip the scale", which will be my prayer. Thank you for a wonderful book.

A shepherd who witnesses the beating knows it is done in accordance with the law of filial infractions. But the shepherd wonders if there is another way besides the harsh code of "an eye for an eye" that guides his world.

This story is excellent and timeless. If only our world today, would adhere to the principles found in the story, the world would be lot better.

I am gradually being drawn to really applying myself to tell and to explain to all my friends about one book in particular that I have been studying for a couple of years now........called......'A Course in Miracles'. Looking for a way in, for it could welcome a great deal of derision. Your book Joann, although I will not pick it up till tomorrow has already offered me an idea.
I already know that your story is related.

Yikes! Still intrigued. Maybe more so. How did I miss that very
impotant piece of information? Rest assured. I'll still read it. Oops!
Gulp!

"Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid."
-Basil King

Gloria O Ives
www.booksaboutpeace-diggingdeeper.blogspot.com

Thank you for your comment. I hope you will still remain intrigued when I tell you that THE BOOK OF THE SHEPHERD is a work of fiction, and the "mysterious backstory" is just a story.

I sincerely appreciate your interest and offer you my kindest regards!

I am inextricably drawn to this
Alchemist- like tale-and the author's destiny to bring it to a modern day world so much in need of old world wisdom. How intriguing--the way it came about, and her willingness to abide by the apparently fervent wish of the
beloved old scholar, who presumably would have done it himself, had he lived to. But did he intuitively know he was to leave, without translating this rare antiquity? Or did he know that the new owner would be intrigued enough to fulfill his desire? Either way, together, they enhance the story of The Shepherd, which I am looking forward to getting ahold of, and immediately devouring.
