What do Hula-Hoops Have to do with Real Estate?

By • Aug 6th, 2009 • Category: 26th Story, Big Ideas

I’m at the Inman News Connect Conference in San Francisco this week (more on that another day). The conference is about the convergence of real estate and technology — and it is so quirky and cool and interesting……and utterly “Brad.” I LOVE IT! Just to give you some idea of what I’m talking about, he kicked off the conference with this video:

Anyone want to guess what the point of the video was?

I’ll leave the answer in the comments tomorrow. :) In the meantime, enjoy the video. I loved it.

That first hyperlink seemed to go to a January ’09 conference. Looking for current details. Sounds interesting.

Good one Haste Yee back! But no, that’s not it.

Here’s what I took away from the video (and these are my words, not Brads – but I’ll see if I can get him to chime in and respond himself):

This is a film by an indie film maker with indie music, and it came to his attention on the internet by a tastemaker (BoingBoing) and not the traditional establishment film industry who in the past have been the ones to decide what culture would get to see. The fact that Brad knows about this indie video with indie music and can show it to a thousand people at his conference is an example of how a disruption in an industry can result in an opportunity. The Real Estate industry is being disrupted. Look for the opportunity.

I hope I got that right!

No deep purpose. Boing, Boing shared it on Twitter. I shared it at the opening of our conference. It is relaxing and soothing. I made the point that Connect was about sharing.
