Take a Look. It’s In a Book. A Reading Rainbow

By • Aug 31st, 2009 • Category: 26th Story, Entertainment

The usual subject of our Monday morning water cooler conversation – Mad Men – was supplanted by the sad news of Reading Rainbow which is going off the air after 26 years. (This makes it the second longest running show after Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street.)

That song! That butterfly! The show will be sorely missed.

    I have fond memories of Reading Rainbow – but it would appear most parents have their TV's on 'auto set' for NOGGIN or Nick, Jr. – which would explain it's demise

    As for suspending your water cooler conversation about Mad Men – well, all I can say is last night's episode had me completely riveted. So many issues – so many story lines – how will they even wrap up one by the end of the season?

    @Maria I agree, last night's episode of Mad Men was – simply – amazing. I like Slate's analysis: http://www.slate.com/id/2225274/entry/2226629/

    Thanks for the link. There is one scene no one is mentioning – Roger's new wife and her encounter with Joan in the office. She says she's there because she had to get her rings re-sized because she keeps losing weight. In my opinion that's a prelude to a 'serious illness' around the corner. Somehow, I don't think Roger's happiness is long for this season.
