1976. Goin' back there a bit girl. I remember the book and the girl. I was 25 at the time. Was reading T.S. Elliot, E.E. Cummings and, my favorite, Rod McKuen. I was writing fairly regularly by then, Poems mostly and a few shorts. Some days I wish I could go back in time, other times it is better left behind. Anyway you stimulated the great word God. See what you did.

Back then
there was only now
the days seemed to last forever

Now they fly by
Back then seems like yesterday
as today races towards tomorrow

Back then is important
as long as tomorrow isn't spent
think of just back then.

I've better things to do
more to feel and write
more to live.

Back then is in Black and White now
Today - color
as tomorrow moves to many shades of green

But let us not forget the reds and oranges
Fall was my favorite season back then
and it is now and will be - always

But thank you for reminding me
of Back Then. Good Night.

Back then
there was only now
the days seemed to last forever

Now they fly by
Back then seems like yesterday
as today races towards tomorrow

Back then is important
as long as tomorrow isn't spent
think of just back then.

I've better things to do
more to feel and write
more to live.

Back then is in Black and White now
Today – color
as tomorrow moves to many shades of green

But let us not forget the reds and oranges
Fall was my favorite season back then
and it is now and will be – always

But thank you for reminding me
of Back Then. Good Night.
