I voted for Julie & Julia, but why oh why did you leave out THE ROAD (October)? That is the film I am truly excited to see, espcially after the amazing Esquire review, which called it the most important book of the year: http://www.esquire.com/features/movies/the-road...
Julie & Julia is really the only of these movies that I'm excited to see. I was excited for the Moneyball adaptation, but that, apparently, has been shelved. Boo for Hollywood.
While Where The Wild Things Are looks pretty stunning, I'm now very, very wary of Dave Eggers the Screenwriter. I thought Away We Go was pretty dreadful.
A couple days ago, my level of excitement for "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Time Traveler's Wife" was equal. But yesterday, I watched the trailer for "Time Traveler's Wife," and now I'm less enthusiastic, because it looks as though the grit and humanity have been omitted. Just watch the visual rendering of Henry's time travel, how he gradually dissolves into pixels of pixie dust, Rachel McAdam's Clare staring wistfully into Eric Bana's puppy-dog eyes. It's something like "Meet Joe Black" meets "Cinderella." This is not good. I mean, in the book, time travel for Henry is an affliction, a physical affliction. It makes him dizzy. It makes him ill. I don't think a book-based film need portray its source word for word, but it was this kind of detail that elevated the story from what was an otherwise typical love story.
I want to take issue with your claim to be "publishing on the edge." This is a flat-out lie, seeing as you're part of the gigantic Rupert Murdoch media empire. The claim denigrates those of us who live in situations akin to that of Francois Villon and who live, write, and publish on the edge for real. Please excuse my honesty.
